Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 June 2026. This policy may be amended in the future.
Reshelf Books does not collect, store, or share any personal data on our servers. Your library — books, shelves, covers, and lending records — is stored only in your own private iCloud account (Apple CloudKit) and synced across your devices. We have no access to it. This holds true for every user, including children.
Your library is stored and synced through Apple's iCloud, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
What the app accesses
- Camera — used solely to scan book barcodes on your device.
- Photo Library — accessed only when you choose to set a cover image.
- Book lookups — to fetch a book's details and cover art, the app sends the book's ISBN (scanned or entered) and, to find the cover, its title and author to public book-data services: Open Library, Google Books, Crossref, the Library of Congress, Trove, Inventaire, Apple Books (iTunes), WorldCat, Bookcover API, and Better World Books. No personal information is transmitted. These services receive only this book information and are governed by their own privacy policies.
- Family Sharing — sharing a library uses Apple's CloudKit sharing; shared data is handled by Apple between the participants you invite.
What the app does NOT do
- No analytics.
- No tracking.
- No third-party advertising.
- No developer-operated servers or accounts.
